GOODNIGHT - HUGGINS PHOTOS
Franklin Leroy Goodnight (known as Leroy) shared the majority of photos on this page - some captioned. (Any notations of "aunt", "uncle", etc. are as respects Leroy).
While researching the photos, I happened to receive an email from Virginia Goodnight Barth*, who turned out to be Leroy's 1st cousin 1x removed. She provided information on many of Leroy's photos and even donated 6 photos of her own.
I tried to put the photos in order by approximate date/year and added names when none were shown. There are still a few unnamed people - I would appreciate an email if anyone knows their names or if you would like to share other Goodnight and/or Huggins photos.
Thank you, Leroy and Virginia!
*Virginia has been trying to reach her extended family. (She is the daughter of Harley Willard Goodnight & Pauline Jane Tharp). Please send me an email if you would like to contact her.
Please note several photos may show the wrong year. This is in no way meant to be a criticism towards Leroy - he was very generous to allow me to post his pictures - but notations on the back of photos sometimes fade and some may have been difficult to read.
Ethel Mae Huggins (1907-1993) and (possibly) Bertie Yoho in
1919. Ethel had a 4th cousin 2x removed named Bertie Lee Yoho born 09
February 1907 (1 month before Ethel) in Allister, Wetzel County and died due to
tuberculosis 31 December 1919 in Reader, Wetzel County. Bertie was the
daughter of James Lee Yoho & Nettie Louisa McKimmie.
During the 1920 census, the Huggins & Yoho families lived in Green District, Wetzel County.
I'm not sure this is the same Bertie in the photo, however.
Ethel Huggins and Zella Mason
1923. There was a Zella F. Mason, daughter of Francis Marion
Mason & Seba Sophia McAlister, who was born about 1901 in Wetzel
County. During the 1920 census, both families lived in Green District,
Wetzel County. On 27 November 1929, Zella married Okey Wade
at Nutter Fort, Harrison County. Again, I'm not sure this is the same
Zella in the photo. Also, Ethel appear older than 16
years of age.
Ethel Huggins in 1924. This may not
have been taken in 1924 - see note below.
Ethel Huggins and Mary Postelwait 1924.
There was a Mary E. Postlethwait born 01 January 1904 and died 22 March
1987 at Barberton Citizens Hospital, Summit County, Ohio who was the daughter of
David Porter Postlethwait & Matilda Jane Fankhouser. During the
1920 census, the Huggins and Postlethwait families lived in Green
District, Wetzel County. On 05 July 1927, Mary married Virgil
Vandyne in New Martinsville. I'm not sure this is the same Mary
as in the photo. Note - Ethel married in 1925 and she is wearing a
ring on her hand in this photo.
George Washington Goodnight
(1904-1971)
George and Ethel Huggins Goodnight

Harley Willard Goodnight (1925-1966). Harley was born Christmas Eve
1925 so this photo would have been taken in early 1926.
Another photo of George and Ethel

Ethel and George with Glen and
Mary Moore. I can't find a Glen Moore - perhaps "Glen"
was a middle name or he might have been visiting from out of state.

Phyllis Goodnight about 1948-1949. (Per
Virginia Goodnight Barth).
George and Ethel with friend
(possibly Gertha __). There's a notation on the photo - "Henry
J. Goodnight came from Calhoun Co." This was George's
father, Henry Jackson Goodnight.
