Page 376 of Charles Huggins' book, Huggins Families of Western PA & Northern West Virginia, (published in 1987), showed Oliver as being married twice - (1) on 6 May 1878 in Wetzel County to May E. Parsons who was born about 1853 in (West) Virginia and (2) on an unknown date to Mary E. Gardner who was born about 1851 in (West) Virginia and died on 13 Aug 1883.
"May E. Parsons" and "Mary E. Gardner" were actually the same person - Mary Ellen Garner. Her first marriage (on 4 May 1867) was to Henry Seth Parsons, who died on 27 June 1877. Therefore, at the time Mary married Oliver Huggans in 1878, her legal name was Mary Ellen Parsons.

JAMES LEONARD PARSONS: 2 Born 13 December 1866 in Wetzel County and died 15 August 1935 in Moundsville.3 He married MARGARET E. RINE and they had six children, five of which survived childhood.10, 78 (Click here to view Marriage License)
JOSEPH GARNER PARSONS:2 Born 24 November 1868 in Wetzel County and died 14 March 1943 in Proctor.3 (Click here for Death Certificate). On 29 August 1893 in Marshall County, he married BARBARA ELLEN YOHO.78 (Click here to view Marriage License).
NICHOLAS M. PARSONS: 2 Born 18 September 1870 in West Virginia 11 and died in 1945.10 He married RHODA AMENTA ALLEN 11 and they had two children.
PHILO L. PARSONS: 2 Born 7 February 1873 in Wetzel County 11 and died 5 September 1954. He married VIRGINIA BELLE GODDARD 11 and they had four children.10
WILFORD WINFIELD PARSONS: 2 Born 13 February 1876 in Wetzel County 11 and died 19 April 1943 in Marshall County.10 He married ROSA BELL GODDARD and they had a total of eight children, at least one of which died in infancy.10

The Charles Huggins book, Huggins Families of Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia, (published 1987 by Gateway Press, Inc. of Baltimore), showed Calvin Lewis "Huggins" as being the son of "Thomas J. Huggins & Arminta Conley Huggins." (Chapter 14 page 382) . The book also showed Thomas J. Huggins as being a son of John Randolph Huggans. This is not true. "Thomas J. Huggins" was actually Thomas HIGGINS and he was unrelated to the Huggins family. (Clara Higgins was listed as informant on her brother Charles H. Higgins's Death Certificate - Clara's signature was clearly shown as HIGGINS). J. Smith, who lives in West Virginia,
searched in the Wetzel County Courthouse and found a hand-written complaint
dated 26 February 1884 filed by Arminta Huggans which
alleged Samuel Allen O'Neil was the father of her naturally born son, Calvin. Click Here for document
Samuel O'Neil was arrested and bail set at $1. He was found guilty and
ordered to pay $50 for five years to the Court.
About one month after the complaint was filed,
Samuel
O'Neil married EMMA WEST on 30 March 1884.18 (Click here
for Marriage License). Emma was born in 1862 in Wetzel County and died in 1940

She was the daughter of ISAAC WEST (1830-1851) & LUCINDA JOHNSON (born September 1832 in Ohio).

William Henry was born in June 1849 in Marshall County 21 and died there in 1912.19 His grave is at Palmer Cemetery in Wetzel County.22 (Click here to view Headstone). William was the son of JONAS HENRY & DORCAS WHITE and was a farmer who (per the 1870, 1880 & 1910 censuses) could not read or write. (The 1900 census showed him as being unable to write only).
William had been married previously, on 18 April 1872 in
Franklin District, Marshall County to EMILY YOHO.21,78

A ward, Mollie Hall, was living with them. She was nine years old and born in West Virginia. (Her father was born in Ohio and mother in West Virginia). Mollie attended school for 4.5 months during the year.

a rented home on Big Grave Creek in the Clay District, Marshall County. He was employed as a laborer in a gas plant. Their
neighbors were the families of Thomas Majors, William Logston, Tyler Taylor,
Benjamin Hopkins, Helen Hill, John Morris, Levi Muldrew, William Dardinger,
Harry Clark and Carl Dietz.
In 1954, Dallas married (2) MARTHA SMITH.65 The daughter of
PAUL F. SMITH & GRACE ____, she was born in Tyler County.
v. CARL E. HUGGINS was born on 01 September 1899 in Wetzel County and died there due to typhoid on 02 May 1907.41
vi. MAMIE DELORA HUGGINS was born on 20 July 1902 in New Martinsville41 and died in 02 August 1978 at Lutheran Medical Center Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.57
On 20 June 1931, Mamie married LEWIS ENCIL RICHMOND (Click here to view their Marriage License). Per the Social Security Death Index, he was born on 19 April 1909 (possibly in Lynn Camp, Marshall County) and died on 19 February 1982. His last benefit was sent to Moundsville. Lewis was the son of ELIJAH RICHMOND & VIOLA GORBY . (Click here to view his obituary).
The marriage ended in divorce and the Social Security Death Index showed Mamie's surname as Huggins.
vii. EARL EMERSON HUGGINS was born on 10 September 1905 in New Martinsville and died on 10 August 1964 in Proctor District. He was buried at Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville. (Click here for Obituary.)
When he was in his early teens, Earl's mother died. By the time of the 1920
Census, Gawen had farmed out the children and was living in the household
of his younger brother, Cyrus Parsons Huggins.

ix. ETHEL MATILDA HUGGINS was born 13 October 1909 in Williamstown, Wood County and died 23 May 1991 at Selby General Hospital, Marietta, Washington County, Ohio. She was a school teacher for many years.

"Haggins" (age 58) lived on his farm valued at $1,800 (no mortgage) in Proctor with wife Louella (age 48) and children Marvin (24 years), Emery (22), Linzy (19), Nola (18), Alice (16), Paul (15), Harold (11), John (8) and Joseph (6). Emery and Lindsay worked as farm laborers, with Emery being unemployed for 2 months and Lindsay for 3 months during the census year.

On 06 July 1932, Marvin married MILDRED IRENE BLAKE in New Martinsville. (Click here to view Marriage license/Minister's return). The daughter of FRIEND LLOYD BLAKE & IDA CATHERINE HERMAN, Mildred was born on 11 June 1912 in Wetzel County72 and died at 5:30 am on 26 March 1935 in New Martinsville due to puerperal eclampsia.3 She was buried on 29 March 1935 at Antioch Cemetery in Proctor.3 (Click here for Death Certificate).

22. x. JOHN ESTHER HUGGINS was born on 25 June 1921 in the Proctor District and died on 18 March 1998 in Grove City, Franklin County, Ohio.
xi. JOSEPH DALE HUGGINS was born on 28 November 1923 in the Proctor District28 and died at his home46 on 01 June 1994 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.77 At the time of the 1930 census, he lived with his parents.69
He served in the Army during WWII, having enlisted on 23 March 1943 in Ohio (Fort Hayes, Columbus County) as a Private. His civilian occupation was as an automobile serviceman and he was single with dependents.26
